PROJECT 5: SENSE OF PLACE: NEIGHBOURHOOD & COMMUNITY

Image
All man-made structures must be designed to suit the people, climate and site where it is located. A house for instance, should be designed not only with its occupants’ needs in mind, but must also consider its surrounding environment and the larger community. This is because several houses that are collectively located in one vicinity  will   indirectly   form a neighbourhood area, where each individual unit is ‘linked’ with each other and in turn, affects the local population. In the modern era, where the population is denser and the demand for quality living is higher, a well-planned neighbourhood area like a housing scheme is a more appropriate type of settlement to suit those situations. However, to create a sustainable and liveable neighbourhood area, every single element of neighbourhood planning like effective movement networks, appropriate size and locations of public spaces, facilities, amenities, services and the whole layout plan should be planned and desi...

PROJECT 4: PRESENTATION DRAWINGS

Image
Presentation drawings, which consist both 2D drawings (e.g. plan, elevation, cross section & details) and 3D drawings (e.g. perspectives and axonometric projections) is one the most effective ways to communicate the design ideas and concept to the clients or audience. It is used by designers like architects, interior designers or even structural engineers to develop a design idea into a coherent proposal,   to explain a scheme and to promote its merits. Since presentation drawings play a vital part in convincing people about the merits of the proposed design, the quality and appropriateness of presentation drawings should be top-notch in terms of composition, drawings rendering, scale chosen, graphical images shown and written description. This is especially so if the presentation drawing is a design proposal which the designer must use to win a job.   The main objective are to introduce students with basic technical or presentation drawings as a medium of communi...

PROJEK 3: Application of Design Elements and Principles

Image
PROJECT 3a: OBJECT CREATION : A FREE-FORM SCULPTURE All objects that man creates are either shapes or forms, and the creation involves various elements and principles of design. A shape, be it geometrical or free-form, is  a 2D area that is defined in some way  by line, space, value, colour or a combination of these. Counterpart to shape, form is a 3D object that has dimension or volume. Shapes like triangles or squares can develop into forms such as cones and cubes with the addition of depth. On the other hand, space is  the element that refers to the emptiness within or around the objects, and it can be either positive or negative. In this sense ,  the shapes and forms are called the positive space, or the ‘figure’, while the empty spaces around shapes and forms are called negative spaces, or the ‘ground’. In built environment, the objects created can be both stand-alone or connected, and functional or non-functional; while the space produced can ...

PROJECT 2: NATURAL & MAN-MADE STRUCTURES

Image
FOR PROJECT NUMBER 2. DRAWING MAN MADE AND NATURAL STRUCTURE. I LIKE THIS ASSIGNMENT ALTHOUGH IT TAKE A LOT OF TIME TO FINISH IF YOU ARE BAD AT DRAWING AND I AM BAD AT DRAWING. EVEN THOUGH THE THE LECTURER ALREADY TEACH US IN DK ON HOW TO SHADING AND NOT TO FORGET LEARN THE WAY OF ART. I STILL CAN GET IT QUITE RIGHT. BUT THEN I TRY MY BEST AND THIS IS THE RESULT I GET. SOME PEOPLE MIGHT DO IT BETTER THAN ME. BUT THAT WONT   MAKE ME SAD BECAUSE I KNOW WITH A LITTLE BIT OF PRACTICE AND MORE IMAGINATION, SOMEHOW I KNOW I WILL WORK IT OUT

PROJECT 1!! ME MYSELF AND I

FOR ME LETTERING ARE THE HARDEST THING TO DO SINCE I AM KNOWN FOR MY AWFUL HANDWRITING. WELL IT IS NEVER TO LATE TO LEARN TO BE A BETTER WRITER. I FOUND LETTERING ARE QUITE FUN TO DO ALTHOUGH I AM STILL BAD AT IT. ON THE OTHER HAND, I HAVE TO SKETCH MY OWN FACE. WELL, I DID TRY AND IT DOES NOT EVEN LOOK THE SAME. I MEAN WHAT THE HECK?! I CANT STOP LAUGHING BUT AT THE SAME TIME I WAS GLAD BECAUSE I WAS GIVEN THE CHANCE TO DO THING I HAVE NEVER GIVE TIME TO  DO BEFORE. BEING HBP STUDENT ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT STORY SINCE, KIND OF CULTURE SHOCK FOR ME. WELL, A NEW LIFE FOR ME I TO LEARN AND GROW TO BE A BETTER PERSON. :)
