PROJECT 7: EXHIBITION





All groups will be responsible to design 5 Exhibition
Booths (4 major-based group to exhibit the best studio
works of their members and 1 integrated group to
display the integrated-group studio project (Project 6)
during this semester).
The design of each booth and exhibition area at the
DRUM should be based on the stipulated ‘RUS104
2013/2014 Exhibition’ theme: ‘FLOATING LINES’
The location of the booths (Booth 1-5) and the
proposed ‘Opening Ceremony Area’


 


For this exhibition, each booth will be provided with:
i. partition boards to display the selected presentation
drawings, and
ii. table(s) to place sculptures, models or reports.
Besides the major task to design the booth (with any
possible materials) based on the ‘FLOATING LINES’
theme, each major also needs to design and provide
a ‘BANNER’ (sized 10’ x 2’) that shows the name of
the major and year (e.g. ‘ARCHITECTURE (01)
2013/2014’)
 The objective of this project are to enhance students creativity on creating a showcase for people on with minimal time, small space and not to forget using minimal budget as low as possible. Teamwork between members are nurtured during preparation of this booth and the end result are magnificent.

PROJECT 3a: OBJECT CREATION : A FREE-FORM SCULPTURE All objects that man creates are either shapes or forms, and the creation involves various elements and principles of design. A shape, be it geometrical or free-form, is  a 2D area that is defined in some way  by line, space, value, colour or a combination of these. Counterpart to shape, form is a 3D object that has dimension or volume. Shapes like triangles or squares can develop into forms such as cones and cubes with the addition of depth. On the other hand, space is  the element that refers to the emptiness within or around the objects, and it can be either positive or negative. PROJECT 6: INTEGRATED PROJECT: DESIGN & BUILD ‘AN AMPHITHEATRE STAGE’

Building does not have to be large to be pleasantly viewed, and does not have to be extensively enclosed to be comfortably occupied. This is especially so in the tropics, where simple living under the shade with the users being kept connected to the nature is more recommended. Such examples are commonly found waqf (wakaf) or traditional performance stage that is aesthetically beautiful and functionally viable. With the advance of structural know-how and efficient technology, these small structure buildings like the performance stage have been upgraded to be more creatively designed and applicable for broader functions.
